Monty Python’s Dead Parrot Sketch

Also known as the Ex-Parrot Sketch. A classic in MPFC history: if you haven’t seen it, you’re as bad off as if you hadn’t seen the Argument Clinic Sketch. …You HAVE seen the Argument clinic sketch, right??

Great that you included the complaints dept. part, it’s so hilarious. The way Cleese says “The pet shop owner’s brother was lying!” while they both look at the camera always makes me crack up!

    it’s not a palandrome-the palandrome of “Bolton” would be “Notlob”-it don’t work!

I love this sketch-the best Monty Python except, possibly, Defence Against Fresh Fruit

Ahh yes…..channel 56 is the ultimate authority on what’s funny. Wait…didn’t they become a CW affiliate? That speaks volumes about their decision making skills.

Very insignificant. We all know to please the masses the format has to be simple. For simple minds. It is the only way you can please so many minds. The inteligent mind seeks more and is a lot rarer. Look at the ratings pop idol, fame academy, coronation street recieve and then tell me if you still have a point.

Cleese looks so inbred and retarded! He proabably is both! Benny Hill was considered funnier than Monty Python by a UHF station (WLVI TV Channel 56 in Cambridge, Ma) running both! I agree! And combine “exodus” and “international” and “.org”.

I bought a Monty Python double CD and the liner notes indicated that much of their comedy rose out of anger. Like the Cheese Shop sketch and the sketch of about the book buyer, you see the baffled rage and frustration of both buyer and vendor as they deal with difficult and unhelpful people, a situation many have found ourselves in. The Argument sketch has that same quality, wherein a complainant says “I didn’t come here for an argument” and a wiseacre may reply “Where do you usually go, then?”

Back in the 1960’s, when he was on the BBC, Benny Hill was a one-man Monty Python, combining his usual slapstick (albeit sans T&A) with biting social commentary. Take a look at his “The Lonely One” sketch from the 1964 edition of “Christmas Night with the Stars” and see what I mean. Beats the “Ethel the Frog” look at the Piranha brothers by a mile. And back when “Python” was first on the BBC, Hill consistently rated in the Top 10 whereas Python didn’t even make the weekly Top 20 TV ratings once.

lol, Benny hill was just slapstick, you cant compare the combined genius of the Monty Python team with Benny Hill who ran around slapping bald men whilst being chased by buxom women in every episode!!
